The Skills of Painting Bamboo

There are two traditional methods to Paint Bamboo ,that is , freehand brushwork and double thick. Double thick has a series of strict laws, suitable for stroke; while freehand brushwork complete it by the laws of ink painting directly. Painting just likes the calligraphy. Painting bamboo using freehand brushwork need obsorbing methods of Chinese calligraphy, in order to achieve the verve of painting bamboo.

For example, the ancient people painted bamboo branches usually taking the calligraphy of Lishu; painting the knobs by technique of writing cursive; painting leaves by writing Xingshu. However, nothing is absolute.Zheng Banqiao ,living in Qing Dynasty ,painting bamboo leaves, used the his own originality of "six and a half," ,so that the field of the shape of painting bamboo becomes a new uproar,which fully embodies the truth of "The way is not fixed".

Where does law come from? It is from the practice of life. As long as we learn to master the traditional basic method, at the same time, continue to observe and paint, ones can certainly be able to draw it well.

The bamboo in my childhood

When I was a little girl,I lived in a small town with my grandmother.The town was surrounded by mountains in which there were large number of bamboo.The forest of bamboo was pretty green and graceful.Seen from far away,the forest was surrounded by different kind of green.When the wind came,the bamboo shaked and fromed the waves with various layers,rolling upward and downward,as sea weaves.

The forest seemed to be quiet when there was no wind.But in fact,deep in it,there was full of energy.Many animals lived there,such as white rabbits,squirrels,wild ducks。They always liked to play in the forest.Besides,there were coloured flowers and sparking sunshine.It like a world of spirit in the tale story.When I was young ,I liked to go into the forest to play with my friend.We picked bamboo shoots and bamboo leaves,then braided the leaves into stuff,such as wreath ,windmill,magic stick.We also liked to run through the forest,and the bamboo was like the grandma’s hand which was protecting us.

When the spring came ,grandma would take me into the forest to pick leaves of bamboo.In the forest which was baptized by the  rain of spring, we picked a full basket of fresh bamboo leaves.Then,at night, I sat beside the overn to see grandma use the leaves to wrap up the rice，then put it to the overn ,and it would float with the good smell of the bamboo leaves and rice.Next day,we had the bamboo rice pies to eat.

Grandma said that bamboo was a plant with spirit.It could understand the sound of humans.It treated well to kids,because the kids were pure.I got it.when I grew up ,I would still touch bamboo with a pure heart .

Bamboo is an important material for paper making. In our country, tender bamboo was used to make paper  in Jin dynasty 1700 years ago. And till Tang dynasty, the bamboo pulp production has been famous all around the world.

Bamboo has the following advantages as paper making material:First, bamboo grow very quickly , its period is short and its output is high.  Second, bamboo fiber content is high and its quality is good. Third, it is convienent to cut and transport bamboo materials. Fourth, it is easy to produce pulp and paper with bamboo. With the development of the paper making industry, bamboo used for paper making will increase continuously.Bamboo artificial hardboards are made from the scraps of bamboo that are heatpressed into all kinds of boards. At present, there are bamboo glued boards, bamboo match boards,bamboo wood clad plates, bamboo rotary boards, decorating boards,bamboo fiber boards,bamboo filament boards, bamboo shaving boards,bamboo filament and wooden meal glued materials,etc. These bamboo artificial boards are used to make furniture, wall boards, ceilings, and floors. They look nice,also they are durable and cheap.

The bamboo woven glued boards and the bamboo pressed boards can be used to produce shim block for railways,gears ,rollers and pipes. They are light and durable. And the rotary bamboo can be used to produce veneers for furniture or make airplane fuel tankers.

Aritficial bamboo board industries in China rank the top one in the world both in the product category and the scale. Meanwhile, the quality ,the manufacturing techniques and the automation level are strengthening continuously. Bamboo laminated plate is an invention of our country, but the manufacturing techniques and the quality of it still need improving . As long as the cost reduces, there is a good prospect. Its empty inside indicates the meaning of open-minded.its content is comparable to the sea.Her straight fegure indicates the meaning of uprightness.She grow to the sky,bearing the storm and the wind,which make me admired.She can stand the chilliness,and not envy any flamboyance,which is matter-of-fact .

Indeed I love bamboo not for its color or changeable but for its silent spirit of contribution to people. Stand by the bamboo,I would become one otherworldly.

The Reproduction of Bamboo

Different kinds of bamboos have different methods to reproduce.General speaking,bamboo’s root,branches and the buds in the branches are all have reproduction ability.So we can plant bamboo by shifting,root buried,pole buried or inarching and so on.However, Irregular stocking bamboo’s(SanshengZhu) shanks and branches do not have the ability to reproduce, but buds on its root can grow to become rhizome and bamboo; therefore,to such kind bamboos we can only choose the way of shifting or replanting  their roots.

The reproduction of Clumping bamboos(CongshengZhu) or HunshengZhu:

1. Shifting(Root sub-planting):First,we should choose the 1 to 2 years’ old blooming growed bamboo,then remove the earth  about 25mm--30mm  around it,cut its trunk and then pull its root out with earth.Finally we just need to plant the root in the ready hole.And we can dig 3 to 5 small bamboos once.
