The Reproduction of Bamboo
Different kinds of bamboos have different methods to reproduce.General speaking,bamboo’s root,branches and the buds in the branches are all have reproduction ability.So we can plant bamboo by shifting,root buried,pole buried or inarching and so on.However, Irregular stocking bamboo’s(SanshengZhu) shanks and branches do not have the ability to reproduce, but buds on its root can grow to become rhizome and bamboo; therefore,to such kind bamboos we can only choose the way of shifting or replanting their roots.
The reproduction of Clumping bamboos(CongshengZhu) or HunshengZhu:
1. Shifting(Root sub-planting):First,we should choose the 1 to 2 years’ old blooming growed bamboo,then remove the earth about 25mm--30mm around it,cut its trunk and then pull its root out with earth.Finally we just need to plant the root in the ready hole.And we can dig 3 to 5 small bamboos once.
2. The methods of root buried, pole buried or ring buried:First,the same we should choose the strong root which keeps trunk lengh in 30mm--40mm.Second plant it into a hole with a angle,then cover it with about 15mm—20mm thick earth.Then the left trunk also can be used as material for pole buried or ring buried.First,cut its trunk except 1 or 2 main branchs and put it aside as preparation;then dig a hole in depth of 20mm—30mm;and put the prepared trunk into the hole with the part contians buds a little upper;next cover it with earth about 10mm—15mm high,a little higher the ground;at last,cover some hay on it which can keep its moisture. In order to help the bamboo’s buds grow successfully,we also have some extra methods,such as we can saw two circles in a distance about 8mm—10mm to the bammboo’s gnarl and the cut’s depth reach the Zhuqing.With such kind special working procedure,the rate of success will be great improved.
