The Statue of Bamboo Resources

In the world there are more than 80 genera, 1200 specieses, mainly distributing in Asia, Africa, North and South America, Oceania tropical and subtropical regions of the Oceania and islands in corresponding latitude of the Pacific. The Bamboo area of the World is about more than 16,000,000 hectares.

From the distribution, the largest area is in Asia, followed by Africa. Asia accountes for more than 80% of bamboo   resources and areas in the world.China is one of the centers of  bamboo origin and distribution in the world, with bamboo resources ratting the highest in the world and accounting for about 30% of the world's total, known as "the Kingdom of Bamboo." According to statistics, there are altogether 48 bamboo genera and more than 500specieses of bamboo plants all over the country.

The statistics of the Sixth China's forest resources inventory shows that China has 484.26 million hectares of bamboo forest area. Fujian, Jiangxi, and Zhejiang bamboo forest areas account for half of the country, and in the 13 Provinces in the South there are more than 130 cities and counties with more than 150,000 mu bamboo forest area. Combination of returning farmland to forests in central and western provinces and autonomous regions such as forestry key projects established a large number of bamboo cultivation model base.

At the same time, to optimize the structure, a group of fine bamboo species have been developed on a large scale and comprehensively exploited and utilized, formed a new pattern of comprehensive development of the ecological and economic bamboo forests.

Due to the climate, soil, change of the topography and  differences of their own characteristics of species of bamboo, the distribution of bamboo in China has clear zonality and regionality.China's development of bamboo industry makes contribution to improving the ecology, flourishing the economy in mountainous areas, increasing farmers' income and expanding the exports. China's bamboo quality and resources, areas of bamboo and bamboo production and such a number of indicators rank first in the world.
